University Innovation Fellows (UIF) is a global programme that empowers students to become leaders of innovation and change within their universities. Through training, collaboration, and a worldwide community of peers and educators, Fellows develop the skills and confidence to improve learning experiences, strengthen innovation ecosystems, and create meaningful impact on campus.
UIF brings together students, educators, and institutions who believe that higher education can be more innovative, inclusive, entrepreneurial, and responsive to the challenges of tomorrow. Fellows identify opportunities for improvement, work with stakeholders across their institutions, and turn ideas into action through projects that benefit their communities.
The program is hosted by DesignLab at the University of Twente. The program was created as part of the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), a five-year National Science Foundation grant in 2012 and developed at the Stanford d. school before its adoption by the University of Twente in 2025.
