AI-Powered Reflection Chatbot
Service-learning is more than completing activities. It is about understanding what those experiences mean and how they shape your perspectives, values and future actions.
To support this learning process, CISL is piloting an AI-powered reflection chatbot through NiCoach, an HKBU-owned platform, in AY2026-27. Using a structured reflection framework, NiCoach helps students explore their experiences, connect learning with practice, and develop deeper insights throughout their service-learning journey.
Virtual Service-Learning
To promote the integration of virtual teaching and learning (VTL) methods in service-learning (SL), CISL partnered with the Society for Innovation and Technology in Social Work (SITSW) in a collaborative project to devise, deliver, and evaluate the adoption of new tech in six VTL-SL courses. The Project took place from Aug 2021 to June 2023. By integrating VTL methods and tools in SL courses, we were able to serve communities during the pandemic, as well as to upskill and update SL pedagogy to advance with the times.
