Inno Hack

Unleash your creativity and entrepreneurial spirit at InnoHack!

Organised by TriAngle at the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning, InnoHack welcomes students from diverse disciplines to collaborate, innovate, and develop solutions for real-world challenges. This year, we are collaborating with two community partners, Crafts on Peel and H.K.S.K.H. Kowloon City Children and Youth Integrated Service Centre, who will present thematic challenges related to the social issues they are addressing. Tackling these complex issues require a diverse range of skills and fresh perspectives. This is your chance to team up with like-minded students and contribute!

Whether you are passionate about technology, business, arts, or social change, this hackathon offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest trends in innovation while applying your creative problem-solving and teamwork abilities. Take the first step towards making real world impact.

Themes & Challenges

Theme 1: Revitalising Traditional Craftsmanship

Community Partner: Crafts on Peel

Challenge:

Hong Kong’s traditional craftsmanship is the heart of its cultural history. While organisations like Crafts on Peel cultivate appreciation through exhibitions, docent tours and exhibition materials such as brochures and videos, it remains difficult to:

  • Convey the urgency and significance of preservation.
  • Celebrate the unique stories and techniques of craftsmen and artisans.
  • Highlight the intergenerational, intercultural and interdisciplinary connections between traditional craftspeople and contemporary creative individuals.

Your challenge is to design an innovative and accessible solution, either on-site, online, or both, that revive, reinterpret and perpetuate Hong Kong’s traditional craftsmanship in a modern artistic context.

Theme 2: Building Youth Connections

Challenge:

Young people from varied backgrounds often encounter barriers to meaningful community participation. While centres like H.K.S.K.H. Kowloon City Children and Youth Integrated Service Centre support youth-led initiatives, it remains challenging to:

  • Empower youth of all backgrounds—including those with disabilities and ethnic minorities—to form in-depth and sustainable connections among themselves and with the broader community, including groups such as the elderly and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure youth-led programmes successfully reach and engage people outside their immediate circles and maintain lasting connections with the wider community.

Your challenge is to design an innovative and accessible solution that bridges the gap between youth-led initiatives and effective community engagement, ensuring these programmes are impactful and inclusive for people from diverse backgrounds.
