Foreign domestic helpers remain marginalized despite their significant contribution to Hong Kong's current socio-economic environment. Rampant cases of abuse (verbal and/or physical), discrimination, stereotyping, and ignorance between the local community and the MDWs are highlighted through news outlets and social media.
The project will comprise seven events and invite the participation of both locals and migrants. “The Essence of Sundays” will showcase documentary photographs, moving images, drawings, and ready-made objects from the onsite events at the AVA graduation exhibition. This community art project aims to foster these existing values while bridging the gap in understanding between the local community and the Migrant Domestic Worker community.
This project is supported by Social Innovation Kick-Start Fund.
