This year is Centre for Innovative Service-Learning (CISL)'s 5th Anniversary! Our journey began back in 2018, when we started working with instructors from various disciplines and community partners across different regions,  to develop and support academic service-learning and co-curricular social innovation initiatives.

Under the overarching theme of Transforming through Service & Innovation: CISL 5th Anniversary Celebration, a series of events featuring global leaders and local experts have been lined up to explore the following:

  • The social impact of universities
  • Design thinking for co-designing community projects
  • Virtual teaching & learning technologies to enhance service-learning

Design Thinking Workshop

Facilitator: Dr Bre Przestrzelski

Co-facilitator: Mr Nicholas Ooi (Innovation Lead, CISL, HKBU)

In this one-day workshop, which includes a visit to Cattle Depot Artist Village in To Kwa Wan, participants will walk through the different stages of Design Thinking (DT) and gain actual experience of applying DT to community-engaged learning. Educators who are interested in developing service-learning, social innovation and other types of experiential learning for their schools or universities are welcome.
